Congratulations to this year's Miss Iowa Soccer, Ilana Vasconez of Ottumwa (3A)!
Some athletes are defined by championships, while others leave their mark through records and the example they set for those around them. Ilana Vasconez has done both. Over the last four years, the Ottumwa forward established herself as one of the most prolific scorers in school history. A two-year captain, she finished her career with 89 goals and 10 assists, setting new program records for both career goals and single-season goals. Her senior season was particularly remarkable, as she scored 48 goals—more than any player in Iowa, regardless of classification. Ilana's impact extended far beyond the field. A four-time all-conference selection, she paired her athletic success with outstanding academic achievement. Graduating with a 4.286 GPA and ranking 18th in a class of 259, she maintained High Honor Roll status throughout high school and served as secretary of the National Honor Society. Her talents and leadership reached well beyond soccer. Ilana was a varsity letter winner and all-conference performer in tennis, a three-time All-State Choir selection, and recipient of the prestigious Hicks Award, which recognizes the Ottumwa student-athlete who best exemplifies character, leadership, and sportsmanship. Through her service with Special Olympics, community organizations, and school activities, Ilana has demonstrated that excellence is measured not only by accomplishments, but also by the impact one has on others. For her achievements on the field, in the classroom, and throughout her community, the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association proudly recognizes Ilana Vasconez of Ottumwa High School as the 2026 Miss Iowa Soccer. |

A four-time state qualifier in cross country, Teegan also earned First Team All-State honors as a junior and Second Team honors as a senior. His talents reached beyond athletics as a featured soloist in show choir, a member of concert choir, and president of the Norwalk Business Club. Dedicated to serving others, Teegan devoted countless hours to youth soccer camps, mentoring young players, the Norwalk Schools food pantry, Dance Marathon, and numerous community service projects. His commitment to making a difference earned him the Silver Cord distinction at graduation and both district and state scholarship recognition from the Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association.
