2024 Mr. & Miss Iowa Soccer

Miss Iowa Soccer

Congratulations to this year's Miss Iowa Soccer, Savannah Schneider, of Hudson (1A).

Savannah has a distinguished set of credentials setting her apart from this year’s other nominees including being her school’s Valedictorian, and named as one of KWWL-TV’s Best of Class in 2024. She also acted as Hudson’s Student Council President (during both her JR and SR years), was her school’s National Honor Society’s Vice President, and was recognized in both cross country and soccer for her “Distinguished Academic Achievement all four years.

As for soccer, Savannah is equally as accomplished as a forward for her team, being recently named the NICL (North Iowa Cedar League) Player of the Year, and helped lead the Pirates to both the 2023 and 2024 State Tournaments, serving as her team’s captain during both seasons. During her four-year playing career, Schneider has amassed the following awards: 1st Team All-State in 2021 (IGCA), in 2022 was named 1st Team All-State by the IAHSSCA, and by both in 2023. She also was a 1st Team All District performer in 2021, 2022, and 2023 (IGCA). In their first year of the NICL (2024), she was also named as a member of the 1st Team All-Conference squad.

Besides her prowess as an outstanding soccer player, Savannah was an integral part of the Hudson Cross Country Team that qualified for State all four years. She also earned her own individual recognition during both the 2021 and 2022 seasons as an individual qualifier. As a distance runner, she was a member of the NICL’s All-Conference teams all four years (2nd Team: 2020, 2022, 2023; Honorable Mention: 2021).

Despite all this, Savannah has found time to play on a successful club soccer team (Cedar Valley, U19 Regional Qualifier), earn “degrees” and medals in FFA (Greenhand Degree, Bronze Medal in BioTechnology), and has given more than 100 hours of community service in and around Hudson, with significant contributions to the Red Cross, the local Food Bank, and supporting other students and their activities serving concessions.

Mr. Iowa Soccer

Congratulations to this year's Mr. Iowa Soccer, Danny Kinsella, of Treynor (1A).

Danny is a forward for the Cardinals and has been a 1st Team All-Conference member of the WIC (Western Iowa Conference) all four years, and has been a 1st Team All-State member, and Academic All-State member as well during his Freshman-Junior years. He will graduate as Treynors all-time assist leader w/ 67 career assists, despite playing defense during his Freshman and Sophomore years. This year he led the Cardinals wearing the Captain’s armband, and scored 26 goals, and accumulated 27 assists.

Danny has been voted this year’s Treynor High School Cardinal of the Year, has been awarded with the Good Citizenship Citation from the American Legion-Post 725, and was recognized by the Daughters of the American Revolution as their Good Citizen Award-winner. He was also presented with Treynor High School’s Physical Science Award, is a member of the National Honor Society, served as his school’s Student Body President this past year, and was his Class President during his Freshman-Junior years. In addition to his high GPA and ACT scores, Danny was recently named his school’s Iowa Governor’s Scholar… an award only bestowed on one student from each high school.

But not only does Danny excel on the pitch, and in the classroom, is an excellent performer on the wrestling mat; he set the career pins record for Treynor and was the team captain in 2024. He also was a state runner-up this year (best finish in Treynor school history), and was a state wrestling qualifier in 2023. As a member of the football team, he was a WIC All-Conference selection as a running back, and for his club soccer team was selected to be part of the Nebraska State Cup Best XI All-Tournament Team.

When he’s not showcasing his athletic talents, Danny can be found performing a number of different roles in and around Treynor. This includes as a member of the Speech Club, Marching Band, Jazz Band, lead in the school play/musical, or as a top piano player (9 consecutive years of Superior ratings at the Council Bluffs Piano Festival).

He also finds time to help at his church, with Salvation Army/Open Door Missions, as an Eagle Scout in Boy Scout Troop 729, and with Top Soccer where he assists kids with disabilities helping them to play soccer.
