2024 Coaches of the Year
Head Coaches of the Year
Congratulations to the Boys Coach of the Year, Matt Ream of Des Moines Roosevelt High School (4A), and the Girls Coach of the Year, Francis Lee of North Polk (2A).
Coach Ream led the Roughriders to an impressive 11-4 record regular season, turning around his team that finished 6-7, in 2023, and started this season 0-2. Roosevelt finished the regular season ranked 13th in 4A, and were crowned champions of the Iowa Alliance South Conference. Roosevelt earned a #1 seed in their Substate (their first #1 seed since 2016), and secured hosting rights throughout the playoffs. After beating Ottumwa, the Roughriders fell to Iowa City High, ending their season with an overall record of 12-5. Matt is also the executive director of the Des Moines Soccer Club.
Coach Lee took over for the Comets in 2022 and has been on a tear ever since, taking her teams to the State Tournament in each of her three seasons.. This season, North Polk finished the season 19-2 overall, earning a spot in the State Championship game. While the team came up short of a state title, North Polk was undefeated in the Racoon River Conference and took home honors there, and Coach Lee was named the RRC & District Coach of the Year. Francis is also an Assistant Coach at Simpson College and a club coach with Sporting Iowa.
Assistant Coaches of the Year
Congratulations to the Boys Assistant Coach of the Year, Tim Stork of Johnston High School (4A), and the Girls Assistant Coach of the Year, Kain Eagle of Denver High School (1A).

He has been a part of two coaching staffs, while at Johnston, during his 13 years run; this now includes 8 state tournament qualifications including back to back championships in 2023, and 2024.
Coach Eagle helped lead the Denver girls to a 15-1 record, and back to the State Tournament (2017) where they finished a program-best, 2nd overall in class 1A.
